One-fourth of Women Experience Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
Pelvic floor dysfunction can range from vaginal atrophy to urinary incontinence, pain during sex, or difficulty having a bowel movement. One in four women experience one or more of these complications. Pelvic dysfunction can be the result of hormonal changes such as perimenopause or menopause, childbirth, or lack of physical activity. But, the treatments are not well known. Peli Health conducted a survey of over 300 women and found that an alarming 70% did not know where to look for treatment for pelvic floor issues.
Pelvic floor problems are responsible for a significant economic burden, currently costing the US over $100 billion annually. Peli Health aims to support women, at a much lower cost. Education and specialized advice are what women need most in order to address problems associated with their pelvic floor. But, because of the stigma surrounding intimate health concerns for women, this education and advice is hard to come by.
The Peli Health Solution
Peli Health is a platform that provides courses and products to improve pelvic floor health. Women can access these courses from their homes, and use the information to resolve current issues and support future prevention. Because women may come to Peli Health for a variety of different reasons, they offer courses to meet a broad spectrum of needs. One 6-week course helps to repair after childbirth, while another is tailored towards women who suffer from chronic pain.
The courses are designed and taught by a team of renowned experts in the field, including Dr. Sara Reardon (The Vagina Whisperer), Evelyn Hecht (PelvicSense), and Alex Megan (After Baby Fit). The platform of Peli Health allows them to expand their reach to help many more of the women who need this critical information, but do not necessarily have the time or resources to go through their doctor’s office to find the right solutions.
Shortlisted at the Hustle Awards 2023
Peli Health (formerly Elana Health) was recognized for its innovation at the Hustle Awards. As shortlisted finalists, they were celebrated for their mission to destigmatize pelvic health for women. The integrity of the pelvic floor is foundational to a woman’s overall well-being and confidence, and it is well-established that the health of women corresponds to the health of our families and communities.
